Not sure how much fabric to order? Use this guide to choose the right length when buying unstitched fabric (khula kapra) by the meter. All lengths are approximate for an average adult using 44–58 inch wide fabric.
Men
- Shalwar kameez: 4.5 meters
- Kurta only: 2.5 meters
- Shalwar only: 2.5 meters
Women
- Shirt (kameez): 2.5 – 3 meters
- Shalwar / trouser: 2 – 2.5 meters
- Dupatta: 2.5 meters
- 3-piece suit: 7 – 8 meters in total
Tips before you order
- Check the fabric width. Narrower fabric (36–44") needs a little more length than wide fabric (58").
- Add 0.5 m for tall sizes or long, flared designs.
- Printed or checked fabric may need extra length to match the pattern.
- Ask your tailor for their exact requirement – then order that length in 0.5 m steps.
