Lawn vs Cambric vs Cotton: Which Summer Fabric Should You Choose?

Floral printed lawn fabric close-up

Lawn, cambric and cotton are the backbone of a Pakistani summer wardrobe. All three are cotton-based and breathable, but they differ in weight, sheerness and how they hold their shape. Choosing the right one makes the difference between a suit that feels fresh all afternoon and one that clings or turns see-through.

Lawn: the coolest choice for peak summer

Lawn is a fine, tightly woven cotton with a very light hand. It breathes beautifully in 40°C heat and takes prints vividly, which is why most summer collections are printed lawn. Light shades can be slightly sheer, so many people line the shirt or wear a camisole underneath. Shop lawn fabric or go straight to lawn digital prints.

Cambric: crisp and less sheer

Cambric is woven a little more densely than lawn, so it feels smoother and holds a cleaner silhouette. It is less see-through, making it a great choice for trousers and for shirts you want to look structured. It works well from early summer into autumn. Browse cambric fabric.

Cotton: comfortable and durable

Pure cotton is heavier and sturdier than lawn or cambric. It is the comfortable everyday option for men's shalwar kameez and casual kurtas, and it softens with each wash. Wider 58-inch cotton is also economical for men's suits. See cotton fabric.

Which one should you buy?

  • Hottest months, printed 3-piece: lawn.
  • Want less sheerness and a neat finish: cambric.
  • Everyday wear, men's suits, durability: cotton.
